About Apsaras Arts
With over four decades of experience in creating and showcasing a series of critically-acclaimed international productions, Apsaras Arts has grown into a premier performing arts company with a strong focus on classical Indian dance.
Asparas Arts was founded in Singapore in 1977 by the late Mr S. Sathyalingam and Mrs. Neila Sathyalingam of Kalakshetra, India. Mrs Neila has been bestowed many prestigious titles including Singapore's Cultural Medallion in 1989 and Viswa Kala Bharathi in India in 1995. She was inducted into the Singapore Women's Hall of Fame in 2014, and for her pioneering contribution to Indian arts in Singapore she was named as one of Singapore's pioneer in the arts in 2015 when the nation celebrated its jubilee year.
Since 2005, under the mentorship of Mrs Neila Sathyalingam and the leadership of Mr Aravinth Kumarasamy as the Creative & Managing Director, Apsaras Arts has transformed into a premier professional performing company, and it has gained recognition in Indian dance-theatre on an international level, enjoying successful performances in Singapore and abroad. Mr Aravinth is the recipient of many awards including Singapore's Young Artiste Award by the National Arts Council.
Apsaras Arts Ltd is a recipient of the National Arts Council's Major Grant for the period from 1 April 2014 to 31 March 2017.
