Dance India Asia Pacific (DIAP) is an exciting and visionary dance education programme for students, teachers and performing artistes of Indian classical dance. Dance India Asia Pacific has been organised by Apsaras Arts since 2011, in collaboration with Milapfest and Esplanade Theatres on the Bay, supported by Singapore’s National Arts Council Singapore.
Dance India Asia Pacific 2020 will be a hybrid blended program with physical classroom and online sessions, in alignment to COVID-19 health advisory guidelines and observance of social distancing safety measures. This is a unique format of virtual learning experience that has been conceived in context of the new-normal.
DIAP 2020 is now open for applications for its Masterclasses in Bharatnatyam, Kathak, Odissi, Abhinaya and Music. In this uniquely designed masterclass workshop, world renowned expert faculty members teach choreographies from their performance repertoire (which is outside of the classroom repertoire pedagogy) and the workshops culminates into a mini-showcase at the closing ceremony. On implementing safe-distancing measures by limiting sign ups for the dance-studio masterclasses, the 2020 program offers a blended learning approach through a series of lecture-demonstration webinars that will be accessible from home. These webinar topics have been specifically curated and designed for the DIAP 2020 to address the targetted gaps and needs of the learners. The experiential webinars are aimed to provide practical know-how in the execution of successful performances and are not simple informational speaker series.
